Love Does Not Fill an Empty Space

You did not enter my life to fill an empty space. There was no missing piece that only you could complete. My life was already full — of people, dreams, stories, plans, and happiness.
And yet, you matter deeply to me.
Not because you repair something. Not because I am incomplete without you. Not because you serve a purpose that no one else could fulfil. Love is not a vacancy, and a person is not a missing piece of a puzzle.
Perhaps that is precisely the wonder of love: it does not always know why it loves someone. It does not make a list of qualities, calculate someone’s added value, or ask what practical purpose they serve. It simply recognises something for which words are inadequate.
You can have a beautiful and fulfilling life and still long for one particular person. Not because life is empty without them, but because their presence touches something within you that belongs only to them. Their way of thinking. Their voice. The way they see the world. That inexplicable sense of recognition when two souls meet.
True love does not say, “I need you to make me complete.”
It says, “I am already complete — and still, my heart wants to know you, keep you close, and carry you with me through life.”
Not because you fill an empty space.
But simply because you are you.
